Tazkiya (sanctification) means to clean to purify something, Quran used this word in the same meaning that is to clean the souls of humans and remove the dirt and stains and to polish.As it is in Surah Shams :
And by Nafs and Him Who perfected him in proportion;then He showed him what is wrong for him and what is right for him; Indeed he succeeds who purifies his own self and indeed he fails who corrupts his own self .(7:10)
